Frequently Asked Questions
How is BASED Curl Mousse different from drugstore mousses?
Unlike drugstore mousses that are loaded with drying alcohols (SD Alcohol, Denatured Alcohol, Ethanol, etc.), silicones, and synthetic polymers, BASED uses clean, hydrating ingredients that won't strip moisture or cause heavy buildup. Drugstore brands use these cheap compounds to create fast-drying foam, but most leave your curls frizzy, brittle, and dry over time. When you choose BASED, you get perfect volume and hold with zero compromise.
How do I apply the BASED Curl Mousse?
Apply to damp hair after your leave-in conditioner or curl cream, or directly to damp hair. Dispense 2-3+ pumps (depending on your hair length) into your palm, emulsify between hands, and scrunch into curls from mid-lengths to ends. For extra volume, apply at the roots. Let it air dry or diffuse.
Can I pair it with other BASED curl products?
Yes. Layer it with the BASED Curl Cream for added definition, or use it on top of the BASED Leave-In Conditioner for lightweight volume. You can also combine it with the BASED Curl Gel - apply mousse at the roots for lift and gel on the lengths for hold. Once you've chosen your combination, use the BASED Curl Refresh Spray on day 2 and beyond to refresh volume and bounce.
Will it make my hair overly stiff and frizzy like others do?
No. Drugstore mousses use drying alcohols (SD Alcohol, Denatured Alcohol, etc.) and synthetic polymers that strip moisture and create overly stiff casts. Over time, these ingredients can damage your curl pattern and leave hair brittle and frizzy. Our high-performance formula uses premium, hydrating ingredients like Agave and Marshmallow Root Extract to provide flexible, touchable hold without stiffness. Your curls stay soft, movable, and looking healthy.
What hair types is the BASED Curl Mousse for?
The BASED Curl Mousse works for all curl types (2A-4C). It's especially great for fine or low-density hair that needs volume without weight, but it works great on thick, coarse curls too.
What if it's not a fit for me?
Don't worry - that's why we created the BASED Guarantee. Most customers never need it, but if something isn't right, we've got you covered.
